What is New Student Orientation?

New Student Orientation strives to guide the successful transition of new students into Johnson & Wales University’s academic, cultural and social environments.

Orientation is a MANDATORY program for new students, to ensure that all necessary requirements to start school have been completed. Satisfying these requirements will prevent holds being placed on your account, since holds must be cleared in order to start classes.

Guiding Principles:

1. Encourage student learning and development through intentional programs
2. Educate families and parents so they may effectively support their student’s success
3. Introduce students to resources necessary to strengthen the student experience
4. Promote JWU affinity through opportunities to engage with the campus community
5. Foster experiences that provide a foundation for invested citizenship

This program is also highly recommended for parents or guardians. It is the initial step in joining the JWU family. We encourage everyone to actively participate.
