Who Should Attend
First-Time Freshmen Students who will be attending Johnson & Wales for the first time and have never attended college before. Sessions are designed to acclimate students to the university and act as an introduction to life at college.
New Transfer Students & Returning Learners Transfer students and returning learners are encouraged to attend the transfer session, which is tailored to meet your specific needs. We know time is limited, so we have condensed a session to maximize your time. Of course, you may elect to attend the three-day session if you prefer.
Returning Learners are students who are beginning their JWU experience after spending time away from school. Examples include, but are not limited to, pursuing your education after spending time in another career, getting married, having children, or serving in the military. Special orientation sessions have been designed to connect you with JWU, and prepare you for a successful academic transition.
Parents We realize that parents and guardians are just as involved in the student’s college experience as the students themselves. With that in mind, we offer specific programs to answer questions from this perspective. Parents and guardians will participate in orientation sessions with their student as well as a separate parent session during the same one-day or three-day period as their students.
