Accreditation and Approvals
Johnson & Wales University is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges, Inc. (NEAS&C), through its Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. Legal control is vested in the Board of Trustees. The University is approved for the training of veterans. The University is an institutional member of Service Members Opportunity Colleges.
The University is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.
Johnson & Wales University is listed in the Education directory of Colleges & Universities issued by the U.S. Department of Education.

The State of Rhode Island has chartered Johnson & Wales University as a nonprofit degree-granting institution of higher learning. Johnson & Wales University, its faculty, and members of the administrative staff hold affiliations with numerous organizations.

The M.B.A. program in Hospitality & Global Business Leadership at the Alan Shawn Feinstein Graduate School, with concentrations in Marketing, Finance, and Event Leadership, meets the continuous improvement standards of the TedQual Certification System, The TedQual Certification System is a World Tourism Organization (WTO), THEMIS Foundation sponsored program.

The Teacher Education program of the Center for Education at Johnson & Wales University is fully approved under the Interstate Certification Contract (ICC) for the preparation of secondary school teachers of business education and vocational food service education.
