meet the tour guides Lauren Lucash Sports/Entertainment/Event Management Your JwU visit experience When I first arrived on campus, I was greeted by CAT members at the airport. I was so excited that actual college students would want to come and talk to me and help me to better understand what the college experience would be all about. I arrived on campus and was very happy to see more students helping out with the fly-in/drive-in. I wanted to be an outstanding student where everyone on campus would know me and know that I was a CAT student, as well as someone that they can count on the get the job done whenever needed. Why are you a CAT student? I am a CAT student because I feel that being active in your university can help you gain the right experience that you will need to carry on with you after you graduate. I enjoy seeing prospective students that are interested in attending Johnson & Wales University. I find it very rewarding when the school year arrives and you walk around campus, you see those students that remember you and feel good that they at least have one person that they can talk to and become friends with. What did you wish you knew (or someone told you) prior to visiting campus? When I came to visit the campus, I was not aware that it was going to be so HOT!! That was the only problem that I had encountered. What "insider’s tip" do you have for prospective students about visiting? When you visit the Johnson & Wales North Miami Campus, you need to arrive here with an open mind. There is a lot to see and a lot to take in, so if you arrive with the mindset that things are just going to be free and open, then you were wrong. The CAT team, along with the university Events department, has a lot planned and in store for the new freshmen, and you have to be ready for the time of your life. What "must see" things do you recommend prospective students see while they're here visiting? A must see thing along with a "must do" is to check out the night events that are being held. We take the students as well as their guests to places that are off campus, and we have the most fun on these nights. The students are able to see Miami and enjoy it a bit before they attend the university. Another thing that students must do is talk and interact with the CAT team. These are the students who know the school the best, we can answer any questions that they might have, and a lot of the time make for some good friends! |
