bio Barbara Franks began her career with Johnson & Wales University in 1985, after spending 10 years as managing editor of a weekly newspaper. She has spent most of her adult life working with young people. For 10 years, she worked with learning-disabled children at the elementary level and she has also been a foster parent to more than 10 children.
