bio Kathy Jo Somers received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of North Carolina in Home Economics Education. She taught Culinary Arts at the high school level in Greensboro for 28 years and was actively involved in FCCLA at the local, state and national level. In 1993, she was recognized as National Vocational Teacher of the Year by the American Vocational Association. Knowing firsthand the excellent education and experience that her own students received at J&W, Kathy Jo retired early from teaching to join the Johnson & Wales family as an admissions representative in 2006.
