Dear Fellow Alumnus,
The goal of the Johnson & Wales University Alumni Council is to be the voice of alumni, as well as a link between more than 77,000 alumni and the university. In an effort to keep alumni informed and involved, I would like to make you aware of the strategic goals that the Office of Alumni Relations has developed in conjunction with your alumni council.
Our priorities align with FOCUS 2011, the university’s strategic plan, and concentrate on four areas in which to develop new initiatives, programming, and services: admissions, academics, alumni career services and advancement. Within each area, there are many ways for alumni to continue their involvement.
Admissions Alumni already assist in recruitment efforts around the country, speaking at Admissions Informational Meetings (AIMS) and attending Open House events on campus. By sharing experiences, alumni help guide students and parents in the decision to choose JWU, giving insight into what they can expect to achieve after graduation.
Academics The talents and knowledge of JWU alumni are an endless resource for faculty in every college. Alumni may return as a Distinguished Visiting Chef (DVC), Distinguished Visiting Professor or speak to entrepreneurship students on the real-world challenges of owning a business. Faculty members often seek out alumni to share their wisdom with current students.
Career Services The Office of Alumni Career Services not only provides resources to alumni who are searching in their own career, but connects with alumni who are in a position to hire other grads and students. Whether you’re back on campus to interview students during recruiting, or to represent your company at Career Day, this is your opportunity to tap into the best resource JWU has to offer: our graduates.
Advancement With so many ways to give back through time and skill, there are also opportunities to assist in fundraising and endowment, including the Alumni Council Scholarship Fund, Tsunami Relief Fund, and various fundraisers held throughout the year.
From the first impression that the university makes to prospective students, to the last it makes upon alums, the alumni council and association members play an integral part in Johnson & Wales University.
