Dr. Thompson is the associate dean of the John Hazen White School of Arts & Sciences. Her areas of research interest are faculty assessment, food history, and food security. Her professional memberships include the New England Resource Center for Higher Education, the Association for the Study of Food and Society, the Schlesinger Library at Radcliffe, and the Rhode Island Food Writers' Network. She has developed and taught three courses that are part of the culinary arts curriculum: Culture and Food (sociology), Food in Film and Literature, and Introduction to Food Writing.
