The purchase and renovation of the John Hazen White Center for the Arts & Sciences has been made possible through a generous donation from the White family. Opened in January 1999 at the Providence Campus, the Center is one of the most modern and innovative buildings on campus, yet it preserves the architectural heritage and integrity of the original building.

the classrooms The Center includes 32 classrooms and two conference rooms utilized by over 5,000 students and 50 faculty every day. Implementation of the technology classrooms has been made possible by a $175,000 grant from The Providence Journal Foundation. The state-of-the-art technology allows professors to access the Internet in the classrooms, incorporate multimedia presentations, as well as other technologies through a centralized console in the classroom.

the courtyard Located on the east side of the Center, the Happy White Courtyard provides a place for students to socialize between classes. The courtyard also serves as a venue for performances and other cultural events. Each spring it is the site of an art exhibit of works by J&W students, faculty and staff. If you would like to make a submission to the exhibit, please contact the Dean's office at 401-598-1400.
