This program offers academically talented students the opportunity to explore challenging and stimulating courses. Eligible applicants must have taken two college prep mathematics courses and one college prep English course, maintained an average of B or better, placed in the top 25% of the high school graduating class, submitted SAT scores at or above the national average or ACT total composite of 42, and entered J&W in the fall.

The honors program has experienced significant growth which has enabled us to provide new honors courses and options. In addition to offering a new course in the core program (20th Century: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Literature) and many new H-Options. The university will now offer two honors tracks: the "University Honors Scholar" for Chancellor Scholarship recipients and the "Honors Scholar" track for Presidential Scholarship recipients. University Honors Scholars must fulfill the general program requirements and enroll in the Research Advisory Seminar culminating with the submission of an Honors Project or thesis in a student's major or any approved Arts & Sciences topic.

Honors students will be enrolled in honors sections of their freshmen courses and may choose the Honors Option (H-Option) for other courses.

To receive an honors designation upon graduation, students must successfully complete a number of freshmen honors courses in addition to some H-Option courses.

At the associate level, business, hospitality, and technology students must complete a total of six Honors/H-option courses for the designation. At the bachelor's level, these students must complete a total of 12 Honors/H-option courses and submit a scholarly project for a designation on their degree and transcript. At the associate level, culinary students must complete a total of nine Honors/H-option courses for the designation. At the bachelor's level, these students must complete a total of 16 Honors/H-option courses and submit a scholarly project.

Students enrolled in the Honors Program often receive preference for on-campus interviews, tutorial positions, resident assistant positions, freshmen housing and residence hall roommate assignments, and early graduation through accelerated coursework.
