Rubrics are formulae to assess students' work in consistent manner. The School of Arts &
Sciences utilizes each of the following scoring models. atomistic An atomistic rubric lists the characteristics of a well-executed assignment with yes/no boxes next to each. So, if a well-written paper must have x number of characteristics (i.e. clearly stated thesis statement, few syntax errors... etc.) then the paper will get a number of yes's and no's depending on where the paper was weak or strong. atomistic written competency rubric hybrid The third type of rubric may list few characteristics (about four or five) and grade the proficiency of each of these characteristics on a scale of one to five, where one is the worst and five is the best. Each part can be used as an atomistic score, while the mean of the parts can be used as a holistic score. oral communication rubric © 2004 Johnson & Wales University. All rights reserved. |
