Wildcats Finish 4th in MAMVIC West Tournament
Johnson & Wales opened the MAMVIC West Tournament with a 3-2 win by the host team over Hannibal-LaGrange College. Chris Schardt (Colorado Springs, CO) had 25 of the Wildcat's 77 kills while Komakana Fernandez, Eddie Aronchick and Jorden Smith each add 15, 13 and 13 kills respectively. Mike Sauro had 61 assists in the 'Cats win.
The Wildcats lost to Missouri Baptist in the semifinal round to go 0-3 against the Spartans this season. The Spartans easily took a 3-0 (31-29, 30-27, 30-22) win from the Wildcats to send them to the consolation bracket for the remainder of the MAMVIC tournament. Chris Schardt had 21 kills in the 'Cats loss.
The Wildcats finished their 2010 campaign with a 1-3 (24-30, 23-30, 30-22, 24-30) loss to Park University in the MAMVIC West Tournament Consolation match. The Wildcats .226 attack percentage couldn't compete with the Pirates' .304 behind 23 kills from Erick Albuquerque. The Wildcats' Chris Schardt had 17 kills, while Mike Sauro had 38 set assists.
Johnson & Wales University is proud of the accomplishments of it’s men’s volleyball team this season and is sad to see three seniors, Garrett Brizendine, Eddie Aronchick and Jorden Smith, move on, but are upbeat about the future of the program behind the remaining ‘Cats and incoming class of recruits.
