timing If eligible you may participate in the co-op program during the
last trimester before graduating with a Bachelor's Degree, and must be
cleared academically
and financially to participate. In certain cases, you may need specific approval
from Academic Services and the Chair of your College. You should make an appointment
to meet with your Coordinator in the Career Development Office at least two
tri-mesters prior to your co-op term to discuss your plan for securing
a site and goals for
the experience.
securing a co-op site There are four methods you can use to secure a host site for your experience. Once accepted into the program, you will work with your specific coordinators to determine which method is appropriate and how to work toward best-fit employment.
applying for co-op You will submit a hard
copy of the application and your resume to your Coordinator in the Career
Development Office by the deadline
to ensure
your participation in the program. You will choose a faculty advisor from
your College to serve as your Co-op Project Advisor; your chosen advisor
must sign
your application before you submit the form to CDO.
application due dates are available in the Career Development Office
gaining approval of your host site Your host company should submit the letter of commitment (27K Word), including a bulleted job description, to CDO at least two months prior to your start date, to ensure your placement for the upcoming term.
final preparations You will attend a group co-op orientation with your Coordinator to receive your student manual, review the required assignments and grading procedures, and hear tips for making your co-op a successful, rewarding experience.
