timing If eligible you may participate in the co-op
program during the last trimester before graduating with a Bachelor's Degree,
and must be
cleared
academically and financially to participate. In certain cases, you may
need specific approval from Academic Services and the Chair of your College.
You
should make an appointment to meet with your Coordinator in the Career
Development Office at least two tri-mesters prior to your co-op term
to discuss your
plan for securing a site and goals for the experience.
securing a co-op site There are four methods you may use to secure a host site for your experience. Once accepted into the program, you will work with your Coordinator to determine which method is appropriate and how to work toward best-fit employment.
applying for co-op You will submit a hard copy of the application and your resume to your Coordinator in the Career Development Office by the deadline to ensure your participation in the program. You will choose a faculty advisor from your College to serve as your Co-op Project Advisor; your chosen advisor must sign your application before you submit the form to CDO.
gaining approval of your host site Your host company should submit the letter of commitment (27K Word), including a bulleted job description, to CDO at least two months prior to your start date, to ensure your placement for the upcoming term.
final preparations You will attend a group co-op orientation with your Coordinator to receive your student manual, review the required assignments and grading procedures, and hear tips for making your co-op a successful, rewarding experience.
