Parking on the Downcity Campus is very limited. These directions take you to a parking lot where you may park during the weekend.
Hotels
If you need to make hotel reservations, Johnson & Wales operates two
lodging properties in the area: Johnson & Wales
Inn Seekonk, Mass. and the Radisson
Hotel Providence Airport in Warwick, R.I. Visit Providence
Warwick Convention and Visitors Bureau for additional information on
area hotels.
Bookstore
Purchase your books and class supplies at our two bookstores. Please visit the bookstore at the location where your classes are held. Culinary Arts students can get their uniforms at the Harborside bookstore.
University Correspondence
As a university, Johnson & Wales is committed to providing correspondence
that is timely and relevant to our students. The university will send communications
by mail and/or via JWU email with the full expectation that students will
receive and read them in a timely manner. Any correspondence sent by mail
or JWU email is deemed to be an official notification. Read more about addresses & email.
Technology
The Information Technology Department at JWU offers several services to students
including: email, Internet
access, Help Desk services, telephone
services and computer
centers. Once you begin classes, the university exclusively uses the
JWU email account for all correspondence
Parking Permits
Campus Safety & Security is responsible for parking
on campus. Parking is extremely limited for new students. New students
are encouraged NOT to bring a car on campus.
Center for Academic Support and Special Needs Advising
The Center
for Academic Support offers personalized learning assistance, individual
and group tutoring sessions, study strategy workshops and supplemental instruction
for all JWU students.
Special needs advisors provide individual accommodations and learning strategies for students with special needs. They can be reached at their Downcity location at 401-598-1485, and at their Harborside location at 401-598-4754.
Student Activities
The Office
of Student Activities supports student clubs and organizations, campus
events and resources, student publications, and more.
Student Counseling Center
The Student Counseling
Center (SCC) provides a variety of services to students and the university
community. These include personal and group counseling, crisis intervention,
community referrals, consultation and psychoeducational programs. Students
come to the SCC for a wide range of issues including: relationship difficulties,
family issues, adjustment concerns, depression, anxiety and alcohol/substance
abuse issues. The SCC has offices at the Downcity and Harborside campuses.
An after-hours, on-call service for psychological emergencies is also available.
Services are free and confidential.
Parents' Association
The Parents' Association sponsors
programs and services to promote involvement.
International Student Services
International Student Services coordinates special orientation session for new international students and offers non-legal information on matters relating to immigration, visas and information on cultural adaptation, housing and university services.
