  • Commencement is the most significant academic event for students and the entire university community. The culmination of years of hard work, as well as personal and financial sacrifice for students and families alike, these ceremonies celebrate one of the highest rewards of academic achievement.

    Graduate arrival time: 8:30am
    Guest arrival time: 9:30am

    Please note: that the convention center is located within Port Everglades. Entrance into the Port is controlled at security checkpoints which require all occupants of a vehicle 18 years of age or older to present valid, government issued photo id such as a driver’s license. Please allow sufficient additional time for clearing the security checkpoint and parking.

    Important Dates
    February 4 – May 17: Cap & Gown Pickup Available
    Make sure to visit Student Academic & Financial Services for your cap & gown voucher (available once you have completed your exit counseling session).

    March 9: Apply for graduation at jwuLink

    March 27: Grad Expo
    Your one-stop-shop for commencement related activities.

    April 5: Confirm your degree with Student Academic Services
    All students eligible for graduation will receive an email from Student Academic Services by Friday, April 5. Students should check their JWU email to confirm the spelling of their names, degrees, and honors. This information will be used for the printed commencement program. Contact Student Academic Services at 305-892-7038 if you have not received this email by April 12.

    May 17: Commencement Awards Reception
    An awards reception which honors and celebrates student achievement. Eligible students will receive an invitation for them and two family members.

    May 18: Commencement Ceremony
    Information for visitors and members of the university community concerning the accessibility of university residence halls, academic buildings or other facilities for individuals with disabilities, and information concerning services available to accommodate special needs (i.e. sign language interpreter, etc.) is available through the Director of the Center for Academic Support at 305-892-7046.
