Student Leadership Awards

The Student Leadership Awards is a special effort on behalf of the University to acknowledge the great strides made by groups and individuals alike towards building a greater sense of community

Eligibility

  • Individuals must have a minimum of 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Clubs & Organizations must be in good standing with the Student Involvement & Leadership Office & with the University

Nomination Process

  • Anyone can apply and/or nominate someone for an award
  • Submit a separate form for each award
  • Nominations must be submitted to JWULeadershipawards@gmail.com

The Awards Selection Committee gives primary consideration for thoughtful responses clarifying the qualities of the nominee.

Timeline

  • Application due date and time TBA
  • Awards Committee will notify those who are nominated prior to the ceremony

Individual Leadership Awards Descriptions:

Advancing in Leadership Award
This award has been established to recognize an upper-class student leader who is serving in a leadership role and has demonstrated commitment to enhancing the JWU community through effective collaboration with others.

Advisor of the Year
This award has been established to recognize a faculty or staff advisor whose outstanding service and commitment contributed to the success of a student organization. The person who receives this award has excelled in his/her contributions to student involvement and has been a strong advocate for co-curricular learning.

Centennial Women in Leadership Award
This award has been established to celebrate the centennial year of JWU and to recognize and acknowledge female student leaders on campus. In the spirit of the innovative and driven co-founders of the university, Gertrude Johnson & Mary Wales, this award recognizes female student leaders who demonstrate the spirit as our founders.

Emerging Leader Award
This award has been established to recognize a first year student who has demonstrated leadership potential and is an engaged member of the JWU community.

Feinstein "Enriching America" Award
These awards are cash prizes awarded in recognition of exceptional self-initiated community service projects performed during the 2013-20143 academic year. Awards will be given to one student organization and one individual who have excelled in community service and engagement.

Outstanding Student Employee Award
This award has been established to recognize and acknowledge a Student Assistant from any department at JWU who goes above and beyond their job responsibilities to support student involvement and engagement.

Senior Service Award
This award has been established to recognize graduating student leaders for their outstanding contributions, dedication and commitment to the JWU community and to the ideals of Johnson & Wales University.

Student Leader of the Year Award
This award has been established to recognize the efforts, contributions, dedication, commitment and continual hard work of an outstanding student leader. This award recognizes an individual who has gone above and beyond working tirelessly and collaboratively to better the JWU student experience and community.

Student Organization Support Award
This award is presented to a university department, office, faculty, and/or staff member whose work and support on campus has fostered an inclusive and connected sense of community for student involvement. The work of these individuals continually enhances the efforts of students and involvement on our campus.

Wildcat Spirit Award
This award has been established to recognize and acknowledge the special efforts of particular organizations or students that have created enthusiasm and pride within the university community.

Club or Organization Leadership Awards Descriptions:

Campus Program of the Year
This award has been established to encourage and promote the development of excellence in programming. The award is given to the organization that has been innovative in the development, implementation and delivery of a successful program which is being recognized as the most outstanding program of the year.

Cultural Program of the Year
This award has been established to recognize a program that promotes cultural, diversity, inclusion and global awareness. The award is given to the organization that has been innovative in the development, implementation, and delivery of a successful program.

Educational Program of the Year
This award has been established to encourage and promote the development of programs that educate, inform and enlighten the JWU community. The award is given to the organization that has been innovative in the development, implementation, and delivery of a successful program.

Fraternity & Sorority of the Year
Given to one fraternity and one sorority to acknowledge and recognize significant contributions to the Johnson & Wales community by a fraternal organization.

New Student Organization of the Year
This award has been established to acknowledge and recognize the new student organization that has had the most impact on the Johnson & Wales community through recruitment & retention, programming, and campus collaboration, during its first year.

Student Organization of the Year
This award has been established to acknowledge and recognize the student organization that has had the most impact and has made significant contributions to the Johnson & Wales University community.

Wildcat Spirit Award
This award has been established to recognize and acknowledge the special efforts of particular organizations or students that have created enthusiasm and pride within the university community.
