Whether you’re looking for friendship and social connections, campus involvement outside of the classroom, or the support that a fraternity or sorority can provide, the Greek community at JWU offers an enriching experience.
Being a member of a fraternity or sorority is about making lasting friendships, committing to a common set of ideals and enhancing your personal development. It’s also about being part of a brotherhood and sisterhood where individuals share common values such as academic excellence, honor, ethical conduct and service.
Leadership DevelopmentFraternities and sororities offer a multitude of leadership opportunities that will benefit you well beyond graduation. Each chapter is self-governing and relies on the talents and integrity of its members to ensure its success. You’ll learn practical skills like coordinating events, managing operating budgets, running effective meetings and motivating others.
You may also hold office on an executive board, participate in committees or represent your chapter on campus boards and governing councils.
ScholarshipAcademic excellence is a core value of each fraternity and sorority. Members are encouraged to strive for excellence through incentive programs, study hours, tutoring, study partners, and national recognition.
Community Service & PhilanthropyAs a complement to the university value of social responsibility, each fraternity and sorority has a commitment to service as one of its core principals. Greek organizations sponsor many philanthropic and service events that benefit campus, city and statewide organizations.
Greeks play pivotal roles in the co-curricular campus opportunities, both through their chapter involvement and leadership in other activities.
Friendship and Social ConnectionsThe connections and bonds that you develop and share with your brothers and sisters are a hallmark of Greek life at JWU. So, too, is the sense of belonging that comes from being a member of a smaller community. The opportunity to create meaningful connections and relationships that can be helpful to members in both a professional and personal way is nearly limitless.
