Melanie St. Jean began her career as a member of the Marshall's Executive Training Program (currently known as TJX Corp.) and has held positions with Benetton and Talbot's, working as manager, merchandise manager, buyer, divisional merchandise manager, product developer, district manager and consultant during her fashion merchandising and retail marketing career.

St. Jean is a member of the Rhode Island Association of College DECA/Delta Epsilon Chi,  the National Retail Federation, the Rhode Island Higher Education for Women, and Fashion Group International: New York City Chapter.

St. Jean works with Hat’s for Hope in the Rhode Island Chapter, the Boy Scouts of America and the Gloria Gemma Research and Resource Foundation.
