Mobile Phone, In Case of Emergency (ICE)

In an emergency, time is critical. In Case of Emergency (ICE) helps emergency service providers access information quickly if you are unresponsive.

Here’s how it works:

  • Program multiple ICE contacts by labeling your mobile phone directory with ICE1, ICE2, ICE3 or ICE MOM, ICE DAD and/or ICE SISTER.
  • If you are under 18, make sure your ICE contact is a parent or guardian authorized to make decisions on your behalf.
  • Make sure the person whose name and number you are giving has agreed to be your ICE contact.
  • Your ICE contact should have a list of people to call on your behalf (next of kin, your place of work, etc.).
  • Provide an ICE contact’s number that is easy to reach.
  • Alert your ICE contact to any medical conditions that could affect your emergency treatment (your allergies, current medication, etc.).
