Meet Our Staff

Our Campus Safety & Security staff includes 20 full time certified security officers, five communication officers and three command staff administrators.

Officers are charged with enforcing the Student Code of Conduct found in the North Miami Student Handbook.

Officers follow written standards for daily operation, established by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. All officers

• Are certified in CPR, First Aid, Management of Aggressive Behavior and Non-violent Crisis Intervention techniques
• Undergo a minimum of 40 hours in-service training annually
• Attend monthly meetings of Southeast Region Domestic Security Task Force
• Receive flash reports with pubic safety-related information from the North Miami Police and the State of Florida's ThreatCom System. 
• Are certified in Community Policing through Environmental Design, and routinely hold safety and security education programs.

Members of all departments are active in the local Emergency Planning Committee and take part in emergency drills throughout the year. In addition, command and risk management staff has received both basic and advanced Incident Command System training.
