Parking Permits

All vehicles parked on university property must have a current, valid permit. Failure to have a university parking permit can result in the vehicle receiving citations and towing enforcement at the owner's expense. If your vehicle is towed please contact Campus Safety & Security for instructions.

Permits are not transferable and are valid only for the registered vehicle. If you change vehicles for any reason, you are required to notify Campus Safety & Security immediately or be subject to towing and fines.

Permits are valid for the lot and area specified only. Vehicles parked on campus must be in a marked space. Vehicles parked in flagrant violation of parking rules (such as blocking fire lanes) will be towed without notice at the owner's expense.

If you are applying for a permit it is your responsibility to:

  • have a valid driver’s license
  • possess a valid vehicle registration
  • provide proof of insurance

If any of these items become invalid, you are required to notify Campus Safety & Security at 980-598-1900. Failure to do so shall result in immediate revocation of parking privileges without a refund.

Parking Areas
The Charlotte campus has four parking areas for students, employees and visitors. Please note below who is eligible to use these particular areas.

  • Lot A – Located near the student center is used to accommodate employees, admissions visitors and students utilizing the student center or dining center after 4pm Mon–Thu or at any time on non-class days (Fri–Sun).
  • Lot B – Located at 714 W. Trade Street is used for all commuter students. Overnight parking is prohibited at any time.
  • Lot C – The gated lot adjacent to City View Towers is available only to residents of City View Towers.
  • Lot D – This is the Cedar Street Parking Deck located adjacent to the Academic Center and across the street from Cedar Hall North. This deck is available to resident students in Cedar Halls North & South, all students, employees and visitors.

We strongly advise all students to remember that parking is on a first come first serve basis. Once all available university parking is occupied, there are additional parking opportunities in the area that can be utilized. Parking venues not owned or operated by Johnson & Wales and parking agreements at their locations are solely between the operator and the vehicle owner.

  • Lot C - The cost is $150 per term or $400 per academic year (City View Resident Only)
  • Lot D - The cost is $150 per term or $450 per academic year (CHN/CHS Residents or All students)
