Campus Safety & Security uses contracted security officers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Primary responsibilities include maintaining a safe and secure living and working environment, as well as the enforcement of parking regulations and efficient traffic flow.
Security officers do not have arrest powers; however, the university has developed a highly cooperative relationship with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to help ensure prompt and efficient action.
Communications Communications officers answer emergency, non-emergency and business telephone lines at all times. They radio-dispatch security officers to calls for service and monitor alarms for campus buildings. Crime Alerts Crime alerts are published throughout campus. Incidents that require immediate notification to the university community are posted in administrative and academic buildings, residence halls and other campus gathering places. These alerts are intended to inform the university community about criminal activity and assist in maintaining a safer environment for all.
In Case of Emergency (ICE) In an emergency, time is critical. Getting answers quickly could mean the difference between life and death. Set up your ICE contacts to ensure that emergency service providers get answers quickly if you are incapacitated.
