Save the Bay Headquarters on Harborside CampusJWU provided a six-acre waterfront parcel for the headquarters of Save the Bay, a national award-winning environmental organization. This project has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency and Greensource as one of the nation’s top brownfields redevelopment projects.
Feinstein Technology & Design CenterThrough the street-front Feinstein Technology & Design Center, students build their portfolios while providing nonprofit organizations with design, graphics, technology solutions and marketing services.
Rhode Island Small Business Development Center (RISBDC)At the RISBDC, hosted on campus, JWU faculty and students help small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs create, transform and grow their businesses.
The center provides counseling, training in financial management, marketing and technical assistance, and group educational workshops to help clients secure capital, increase sales and manage best practices. The RISBDC is administered by JWU in a partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration, the RI Economic Development Corporation and the private sector.
Association of Independent Colleges & Universities of Rhode IslandFormer Campus President Irving Schneider, PhD is executive committee chairman of AICU Rhode Island, a consortium of the state’s eight independent institutions of higher learning.
Community CollaborationsThe Feinstein Community Service Center has established long lasting relationships with many local nonprofit organizations and schools. These collaborations provide real world learning experiences for our students while also meeting the need for skilled, enthusiastic volunteers in the nonprofit sector.
Our faculty have developed partnerships within the community that give students the opportunity to put course content into practice while making a difference. Additionally, many student organizations have developed partnerships with both local and national nonprofits that give a focus to their philanthropy and service efforts.
The R.I. Small Business Development Center (SBDC) on JWU’s Providence Campus has not only produced impressive results for its clients, it has given students from all JWU programs an unparalleled opportunity to integrate their classroom studies with community service work. read more
