The Center for Equine Studies
For more than 25 years, JWU's equine studies programs at the Providence Campus have produced successful professionals for the multi-faceted equine industry. Our academic degree programs in Equine Business Management and Equine Business Management/Riding pair career-oriented academics with riding and intensive training experience on our 31-acre, award-winning equine facility.
JWU’s pioneering approach combines a solid foundation in general business and liberal arts classes with specialized academic equine courses, horse management skills, relevant work experience, and a sense of social responsibility—so you’ll graduate with the critical thinking and business skills necessary to achieve your career goals.
We provide a number of ways for you to learn the equine industry and build your resume, including:
- Hands-on learning that covers all aspects of horse management
- Science-based academic equine classes covering a wide range of subjects
- Additional classes to develop equine management and business skills
- Concentrations to add a specific emphasis to your degree
- Opportunities to participate in a summer term abroad
Our Career Fast Track program also features a number of ways to plan your career and gain relevant work experience:
- Work with a career coach and a faculty advisor to identify your field of interest and create a plan to achieve your goals
- Participate in a co-op at an approved establishment in the equine industry
- Hone your skills through riding events, dressage shows, schooling show seminars, and clinics
- Network with industry through JWU-sponsored equine career nights and seminars with nationally recognized speakers from the equine industry
