Treat an ellipsis as a three-letter word, constructed with three periods and two spaces, leaving one regular space on both sides of an ellipsis, as shown here ( … ).
Use an ellipsis to indicate the deletion of one or more words when condensing quotes, texts and documents. Be especially careful to avoid deletion that would distort the meaning.“And so, my fellow Americans: Ask … what you can do for your country.”
Do not use an ellipsis to indicate a pause; use a semi-colon or an Em dash (—).
Ellipses is plural; ellipsis is singular.
