Adult & Continuing Education Programs

Depending on your level of post-high school education or culinary-related work experience, JWU has a program or degree option that meets the hectic demands of your work schedule. To learn more about the majors we offer, attend an information session.

Degree Programs
We offer associate degrees in Baking & Pastry Arts and Culinary Arts, and bachelor of science degrees in Baking & Pastry Arts & Food Service Management and Culinary Arts & Food Service Management.

If you have at least three years of professional work experience, taking the Advanced Culinary Arts Program (ACAP) Examination will accelerate your program of study by one term and grant you 13.5 credits in place of an internship requirement. The exam results are considered in addition to academic records and a letter of recommendation from a food-related employer and/or teacher.

Recreational Cooking and Wine Certificate Programs
Designed for all levels of expertise, Chef's Choice is an innovative program of hands-on recreational cooking classes taught by our professional chef instructors.

In partnership with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and the Society for Wine Educators (SWE), JWU also offers non-credit wine and spirit certificate programs, tailored for wine enthusiasts and hospitality professionals.

Class Schedules
Lecture and general studies classes meet on Saturdays; culinary labs meet on Sundays from 7am-6:30pm. Culinary or baking & pastry arts courses are not offered during the summer term; however, you can take academic courses. For more details see the culinary weekend class schedule.

For course listings and descriptions, consult your degree program of interest.

How to Apply
Applications are accepted for September, December, March and June terms. Depending on the program, summer term courses may also be available. Learn more about the application process.

You must hold a high school diploma or GED in order to enroll in a for-credit class or pursue an AS or BS degree. If you’re interested in transferring, familiarize yourself with our transfer policies.
