Faculty Advising

As a student in The Hospitality College you have several resources available to help you with academic or scheduling questions:

Freshman Advisor
As an entering freshman enrolled in a 1001 level course in The Hospitality College you will be instructed by a Freshman Advisor. This faculty member assists you with all problems and issues related to becoming a full time JWU student in addition to teaching the introduction course in your field of study.

Sophomore Advisor
During your second year of study you will meet with a Hospitality College Sophomore Advisor. This meeting will be scheduled either through your internship or through a course you will be taking. At this meeting you will you will discuss the scheduling of classes for your junior and senior years, your concentration selection, career goals and educational options such as term abroad and Co-op.

Concentration Advisor
Once you select a concentration to complement your major you'll meet with the full time Hospitality College faculty member assigned to your concentration. This faculty member has knowledge about careers and changes in the portion of the industry represented by the concentration and can assist you with course selection, use of Hospitality electives, and career information.

Department Chair
Each program has a department chair who oversees the faculty and academic courses for each major in The College. These individuals can provide you with assistance questions about courses, faculty and careers.

Director of Hospitality Education This faculty member is available to meet you to assist with scheduling or course substitution issues and works closely with your advisor in Student Academic Services to solve student academic problems.
