Build Your Work Experience
Through the dozens of employer relationships we maintain with many of the world’s industry-leading companies, our work experience programs allow you to apply the knowledge you gain in the classroom to real life industry settings. This is a supervised 11-week on-the-job learning experience related to your major that provides you with ongoing evaluation and feedback by your supervisor while building your resume.
Our work experience programs include:
Cooperative Education (co-op): A work experience program for academic credit which is related to your major and/or area of professional interest. Options also exist to participate in co-op abroad.
Internship: A real-life work situation at a university-owned or operated facility for culinary, baking & pastry, food service management and hotel management majors. Some students may be chosen to participate in off-campus externships at one of the nearby hotel properties.
Externship: Similar to the co-op program, externship is a mandatory program for academic credit built into some JWU majors, that allows you to work at university-owned or -designated sites.
