Carol Holmquist, EdD has served as a teacher, trainer, organizational consultant, and CEO for Adult Education nonprofits for more than 25 years.

Her most recent position was as CEO of Dorcas Place Adult and Family Learning Center, where she was instrumental in implementing the merger of Dorcas Place and International Institute of RI in January 2013.

Holmquist has served on numerous boards and commissions including the Governor’s Maryland Minority Heath Care Commission, Virginia Literacy Leadership Council, The Welcome Back Center Advisory Board, The RI Adult Education Advisory Committee, all of which she has chaired, and The RI International Charter School Board.

Holmquist’s academic research focuses on adult remedial education, non-traditional student transition to college, adult self-efficacy with relationship to academics, and the role of education in fostering self-sufficiency and independence.
