As a JWU student, Jim Renner led the Wildcats to the NAIA National Championship — this past weekend he won his best-ever PGA finish.
Top 5 Finish at Pebble BeachRenner landed a 47-yard approach shot and a birdie on the par-5 18th hole to tie for second at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Playing Pebble Beach is a dream come true for Renner, who grew up in an athletically-driven family.
It wasn’t Renner’s only win of the weekend, either: late Sunday, he and John Harkey Jr. edged Rory Sabbatini and Blake Mycoskie to take the pro-am title.
The Pro-Am win marks Renner’s best career finish and his 3rd Top 5 tour finish — it also qualifies him for the Northern Trust Open in Los Angeles, Calif.
Golf Leader at JWURenner, 30, graduated from JWU in 2007 and led the team to win the NAIA National Championship in 2005. He also earned two NAIA All-Americans and NAIA Player of the Year.
