imgTobeySanborn170x150Tobey Sanborn ’97 grew up in a small town in southern New Hampshire and always had a passion for both the restaurant industry and seafood. He combined both passions together when Tobey moved to Providence in 1993 where he attended JWU, receiving a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Administration.

Upon graduation, Tobey began his career at the Back Bay Restaurant Group and worked his way up as opening General Manager of Joe’s American Bar & Grill in Providence. This provided him the experience and skill to join The Capital Grille Steakhouse as manager.

Tobey’s most recent career venture blends his two passions, seafood and the city of Providence, where he is now a managing partner of Hemenway’s Seafood Grill & Oyster Bar. It was there where his passion of becoming a stakeholder in one of Providence’s most vibrant and well known seafood restaurants really came to full fruition. Today, as managing partner, Tobey is responsible for implementing overall management practice, maintaining partnership agreements, and other managerial duties.
