JWU North Miami : Mission : Neighborhood Impact

Neighborhood Impact

Since establishing its presence in South Florida in 1992, the North Miami Campus has developed strong relationships with the local hospitality and business industries as well as local nonprofit and professional organizations.

The campus has received the “Quality of Life” and “Large Business of the Year” awards from the North Miami Mayor’s Task Force, and has also been recognized by The Beacon Council, Miami-Dade’s official economic development partnership, with a Beacon Award for contributions to the visitor industry, and as one of only 31 companies that displayed excellence in expanding its operations over the last several years.

“Executives in these industries have indicated the need for a qualified workforce and JWU’s programs will contribute to the creation of a world-class workforce,” said Jaap Donath, Ph.D., vice president of research and strategic planning for the Beacon Council, “JWU has become a major factor in the growth of the city of North Miami.”

Students, staff and faculty have also maintained strong ties to the community by volunteering for a number of causes and contributing their expertise to a number of community boards. Learn more about how JWU is building the community in North Miami.
