Degree Preparation (Planning Your Registration)

Setting aside the appropriate time to plan your registration will help you save time and be successful. Undergraduate students may register for up to 21 credits per term and are recommended to register 13.5-18.0 credits per term to comply with program and course completion standards within the prescribed time frame. Students may be eligible to register up to 25.0 credits in a term, if approved for the Special Honors and Rewards Program (SHARP).

Graduate students enrolled in traditional programs may not take more than 9 credits (usually two courses) per term. Students may register up to 13.5 credits provided their cumulative GPA is at least a 3.75. Within two weeks of the semester start, Doctoral students will be registered by Student Academic Services for up to 12.0 credits per semester.

Degree Audit and Planner
This web-based, convenient tool takes all of your major/program requirements (as described in the catalog) and

  • helps you plan your present and future course scheduling
  • tracks the requirements that you have completed and those that are remaining
  • allows you to double check you are registering for the correct courses
  • ensures you will graduate on time.

To access this essential tool: Enter Secure Area of uconnect > Registration > Degree Audit and Planner. Note: the planner feature is not available to all Continuing Education students.

Course Projections
Not all classes are offered each term, so you’ll want to refer to the course projections to determine which term(s) the university expects to offer each course. For example, ENG1030 can be registered each term, but ACCT1001 may be offered only during one of the three terms in the academic year. To access course projections, select the college/school of your program:

Electives
Elective courses, as designated by each program, allow you to personalize your program of study by selecting courses that will strengthen and support your individual or career aspirations.
