Dustin Bennett joined JWU in 2001 at the Charleston Campus before relocating to Charlotte in 2004. He is currently working towards a baccalaureate degree in hospitality management. Before his career as a purchaser, Bennett managed the kitchen in a sushi bar/music venue in Mississippi, worked at an organic foods distributor in Asheville, NC, and worked as a sous chef at a bed and breakfast in Puerto Rico. While living in Puerto Rico, Bennett also managed a mountain bike shop, worked as a guide for an ecotourism company, and started a business that repaired and calibrated exercise equipment. He spent four years in the United States Coast Guard where he worked as a firefighter, rescue swimmer, flight deck rescue man and subsistence specialist. He is professionally certified by the Institute of Supply Management.
