Jim Flader has been a part of the Johnson & Wales community since 2006 and offers students a tremendous amount of information and support in areas of food and beverage management and culinary arts. He has worked in full-service restaurants, catering companies, as a personal chef and doing cooking classes and demonstrations. His diverse experience is an asset to the campus community.

Flader earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Vanderbilt University. After several years working in higher education, he decided to go back to school and earned an associate degree in culinary arts from Johnson & Wales University where he earned their highest honor for associate degree graduates, the President's Trophy.

Starting as an adjunct faculty member during in 2006, Flader has gone above what most part-time faculty usually do and has done all he can to support student learning and development. His passion for education as well as the hospitality industry comes forth in all his interactions with students, both in and out of the classroom.
