Nelson Guertin began his full time teaching career at Johnson & Wales in 1986. He has taught out of three departments: Social Science, English and Humanities. His specialties include teaching courses in Sociology, World History, and Comparative World Religion.

Guertin has been involved in many University activities over the years including serving as the chairperson of the University Committee on Academic Rank (UCAR), which is responsible for faculty promotion.
