JWU Student Wins Food and Wine Scholarship
Imagine spending your trimester traveling through France, Italy and California to study wine and food. Does it get any better than this? How about also receiving a check for $20,000 to help pay for college?

JWU senior Michael Lombardi, a Food Service Management major in The Hospitality College, recently received both the culinary trip and the generous check when he won the prestigious R.C. Kopf Student Achievement Scholarship Award. This scholarship, which is given to students who have demonstrated an exceptional interest in fine wines and restaurant management, is awarded to just six winners nationwide. It was created in memory of R.C. Kopf, founder of Kobrand Corporation, one of America’s leading marketers of fine wines and distilled spirits.

New Golf Community at North Miami Campus
The latest Living-Learning Community (LLC) at the North Miami Campus has been created for Golf Management students. Open to freshmen only, the Golf Community offers a great opportunity to integrate academics with activities outside of the classroom. Golf Management students live together in the same residence hall, and take part in educational and out-of-classroom activities such as visiting unique golf properties and attending local sporting events.

There are presently six other Living-Learning Communities on campus that students can choose from, including Business, Culinary, Hospitality, Greek, Cultural, and Leadership. Many students find that by living in an LLC their circle of friends grows – and can even helps improve their grades.

New Wildcat Center Open
Did you know the JWU Wildcat has a new home? On September 7, the Denver Campus officially opened the newly renovated Wildcat Center, home to Wildcat Athletics. This state-of-the-art facility has all the modern amenities while maintaining the historic integrity consistent with the campus. Featuring an NCAA regulation-size basketball court, two volleyball courts, a 2,500 square-foot cardio-exercise and strength-training area, fitness studio, new sound system, bleachers and more, the Wildcat Center is sure to be a central part of student life on campus.

Give Big, Win Big
Charlotte Campus' Student Alumni Association (SAA) was recently awarded “Outstanding Student Philanthropy” from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. And it’s no wonder. Over the past year, SAA has improved the Charlotte community and helped those in need by organizing a children’s book drive, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, working with the United Service Organization to hold a benefit thanking returning service men and women for their efforts, collecting care packets for our troops overseas, sponsoring AIDS-awareness activities, and more. SAA will receive their award on November 18 at the Charlotte Convention Center.
