Safety & Security
The men and women that represent the Department of Campus Safety & Security is dedicated to providing a safe environment in which the campus community can work, learn and live together. The office is committed to listening to and understanding the concerns of all of its constituents.
To ensure your safety, security personnel are on duty 24/7. Their primary responsibilities include maintaining a safe, secure living and working environment; efficient flow of traffic; and enforcement of parking regulations on campus. Security officers do not have arrest powers. However, JWU has developed a cooperative relationship with the North Miami Police Department to ensure prompt and efficient action.
Our Safety & Security officers adhere to written general orders and procedures, which follow standards for daily operation established by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators. The Safety & Security staff is supplemented by a new integrated access control system, which is comprised of ID card readers, surveillance cameras, and emergency blue light phones.
Campus Safety Officers are charged with enforcing the Student Code of Conduct, found in the North Miami Campus Student Handbook (700K PDF).
