Campus President Loreen Chant ’89 Recognized as One of South Florida’s Top 25 Female Business Leaders
In partnership with CBIZ Benefits & Insurance Services, The South Florida Business Journal honored the area’s 25 most influential business women at a July 16 award luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Loreen Chant ’89, president of the North Miami Campus, was selected as a member of this inaugural class of leaders.
Selection was conducted by the editorial staff and the publisher of The South Florida Business Journal; selection criteria included business accomplishments, professional leadership and community contributions. Of the honorees, the journal noted, “We hope their achievements and how they have attained their goals can serve as an inspiration to others.”
Chant began her career at Johnson & Wales University as a registrar and has been a member of the North Miami Campus team since its inception in 1992. She moved through the ranks and took on the role of campus vice president for eight years, which led to her current position as president, appointed by founding campus President Emeritus Donald G. McGregor.
Loreen’s advice for aspiring female leaders is to surround yourself with “good people who are totally aligned with the mission and goals of the organization,” as well as to be genuine and fair, listen more than you talk and to always remember that “there is no substitute for preparation,” a lesson Chant learned as a volunteer firefighter.
On July 17, the journal published profiles of the honorees in its print edition.
