A JWU faculty member since 2009, Dawn Lopez has extensive corporate accounting experience. She developed many of the Charlotte campus financial policies in effect today.In her role as former controller of JWU's Charlotte Campus, Lopez developed many of the campus financial policies still in effect. She participated in campus leadership and served as a member of the finance team for the complete university system. Her areas of responsibility included budgeting, strategic planning, expense forecasting, tax planning and cash management/investment strategies. Lopez also has experience with a public accounting firm that specialized in the financial management and tax preparation for the medical and legal professions. Subsequently, she served as accounting manager at a multi-state environmental company where she supervised staff accountants and managed budgeting, financial reporting and payroll tasks. Lopez holds a North Carolina CPA license and is both a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Certified Hospitality Accounting Executive (CHAE). She is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the North Carolina Association of CPA, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals.
Lopez teaches a variety of accounting and CMA review courses, enabling her to instill her enthusiasm for accounting in both students and industry professionals pursuing the CMA certification.
