Business Marketing major Thomas Stratton '10 studying spent this past June with fellow students from all four JWU Campuses immersed in South Korea’s business world, politics, and culture. Thomas was introduced to the culture through an exchange student in high school, and he was eager to see the South Korean way of life firsthand. He particularly admired the sense of history. “Many can tell you every member of their family for the last five generations," he said.
Thomas says JWU’s Study Abroad program provided him with this opportunity. Integrated tours and excursions of Korean business and country side broadened his world view and strengthen his appreciation for different cultures.
Stratton embraced all that he was exposed to, and he said the experience allowed him to see himself as apart of the world community. He described the ability to actually reach out to South Koreans as the most rewarding part of the experience. "It was so much more than just sending out a business card,” he said.
