Reduced Enrollment
According to immigration law, valid reasons for reduced coursework that will not negatively affect your visa status are as follows:

• First term only: difficulty with English language or reading requirements
• First term only: unfamiliarity with American teaching methods and requirements
• Placement into improper course level
• Last term only: less than a full course load required to finish your degree program
• Per medical documentation and permission: an approved medical reason for reduced coursework

If your academic advisor agrees that a reduced course load is necessary, both of you must complete and endorse the Reduced Enrollment form (102K PDF) and forward it, together with all supporting documentation, to your international student advisor.
