JWU Denver : Honors Program

Honors Program

The Honors Program at the Denver Campus offers you the opportunity to explore challenging and stimulating courses. If you're eligible and enter the program, you'll select courses in which you will fulfill ‘Honors Designation’ requirements in your core curriculum and in the Arts & Sciences.

This is not a separate degree program, but rather an integrated series of special projects and enhancement assignments supervised by faculty. In addition to an enriched core curriculum, this intense, interdisciplinary academic program covers a broad range of needs and interests.

Eligible applicants must have:

  • taken two college prep mathematics courses and one college prep English course
  • maintained an average of B or better
  • placed in the top 25% of their high school graduating class
  • submitted SAT scores at or above the national average or ACT total composite of 42
  • entered JWU in the fall.

Students in the Hospitality College and the College of Business need to complete a total of six ‘H’ designation courses for their Associates Degree and an additional six for the ‘Honors Designation’ to appear on their Bachelor’s Degree transcript. In the College of Culinary Arts, students must complete a total of nine segments to receive the Honors Designation.

After the successful completion of the Honors Program, you'll receive and wear an honors cord at your graduation ceremony, and have this recognition noted on your JWU transcript and diploma.
