In the US, the government does not pay the expense of the health care of its citizens or its visitors. It is your responsibility to ensure that you are always covered. Because a single day of hospitalization or medical treatment can cost thousands of dollars, you need to be prepared. All undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full time at JWU are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan. This program provides basic health insurance coverage only; you must understand its limitations and acquire additional coverage as needed. Once you enroll, you will receive an insurance card and explanation of your healthcare coverage. Make sure that you know how to utilize your benefits while in the US. Health insurance is strongly recommended for children and spouses on F-2 visas; however, you will need to purchase an outside insurance policy for your dependents. The university health insurance plan does not offer coverage for spouses or the children of students.
