Thomas J. Delle Donne ’04, MAT ‘07 is the College of Culinary Arts’ director of culinary events. Delle Donne, a 2004 graduate of JWU’s culinary arts program, earned his master’s degree in Food Service Education from JWU in 2007. Delle Donne grew up in Wilmington, Del., where his family still owns and operates Madeline’s, known for its classic Italian cuisine. At the age of 14, Delle Donne — known as TJ — apprenticed to an executive chef in one of Wilmington’s top kitchens. Prior to graduation from JWU, he interned with Chef Douglas Rodriquez of the famed Alma de Cuba in Philadelphia. He also planned meals for special events and served as a teaching assistant and fellow.Delle Donne returned to the university in 2005 as the assistant director of culinary events and personal chef to the university president. In 2006, he was awarded Best Young Chef in the Northeast region by the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, the world’s oldest international gastronomic society. In addition to his duties as director of culinary events, Delle Donne is a contributing writer to Flavor & Trends Magazine; he serves as executive chef for that organization’s annual conference.
