Chef Christoph Bruehwiler joined the Baking & Pastry faculty in 2009, bringing with him nearly 30 years of experience from around the world. Bruehwiler is a third-generation baker who learned the art of breads in his grandfather’s bakery in Switzerland. Arriving in the US in 1985, his career took him to major hotels in major cities, including Houston, Chicago and Atlanta. In Atlanta, he and his wife established Bruehwiler’s Bakery, carrying on the family tradition for 12 years. In 2002, they relocated the bakery to Old Saybrook, Conn. In Europe, Bruehwiler was a pastry chef and baker with Backerei-Conditorei, a renowned group of bakeries and pastry shops throughout Switzerland. A former corporal in the Swiss Army, Bruehwiler shares his global knowledge and leadership skills with his students. In addition to the extensive media coverage that his bakeries have garnered, Chef Bruehwiler has appeared on national television and has been written about in publications including the Atlanta Journal Constitution, The Chicago Sun-Times and Esquire.
