Graduate Application Process

To apply to Johnson & Wales University’s graduate programs, choose one of these options:

Transcripts
Original, official transcripts (mark sheets) are required and must be received in a sealed envelope.

Requirements for consideration of graduate transfer credit include completion of graduate-level courses with a B or better in the last 3 years. Transcripts of these courses must be filed with Graduate Admissions prior to completion of the first term of enrollment.

Letters of Recommendation
Submit 2 letters from individuals qualified to acknowledge the applicant’s potential for successful completion of the graduate program. You may use the online personal reference form (40K PDF).

Statement of Purpose
Describe why you want to enter the program, and how you believe your previous training and experience will help you succeed. The statement should not exceed 500 words, and must be submitted in printed form.

International Students
International students living outside the United States should follow these application deadlines:

• Fall (September) term: June 30
• Winter (December) term: October 10
• Spring (March) term: January 10
• Summer (June) term: April 10

International students must also submit:

• Declaration & Certification of Financial Support (120K PDF)
• Certified bank statement with a minimum balance of $27,156 USD (US dollars), dated within 3 months of submitting your application
• Copy of your current passport’s biographical section (name, date of birth, country of issuance)
• Official test scores: minimum score of 80 on the TOEFL or a 6.5 on the IELTS

The Denver Campus does not offer an English as a Second Language (ESL) program. If you do not meet the minimum TOEFL requirements, you may attend the ELS Language Center in Denver, Colo., or any local ESL provider of your choice. Upon successful completion of ESL Level 112 (Intensive), you may then transfer to the Denver Campus.

Admissions Requirements
To be considered for acceptance into the MBA with Hospitality Concentration program, applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 2.85.

However, applicants with GPAs below 2.85 will be considered based on additional factors: coursework completed beyond the baccalaureate, reputation of undergraduate institution, undergraduate major, and current position's level of responsibility/

Scores on standardized tests such as GMAT, GRE, ETS test of Business Knowledge and other nationally recognized instruments will also be considered.

Students who have an undergraduate GPA below 2.85 are strongly encouraged to submit a GMAT or GRE score.
