Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System

The RAD System is a program of self-defense tactics and techniques for female students and staff. This comprehensive course begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction, and avoidance and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training.

RAD is not a martial arts program. The courses are taught by RAD Certified JWU staff members and North Miami Police Officers and provide you with a workbook/reference manual, which outlines the entire Physical Defense Program for reference and continuous personal growth.

The RAD System is dedicated to teaching effective and proven self-defense/martial arts tactics. Our system of realistic defense will provide you with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance. The growing, wide-spread acceptance of this system is primarily due to the ease and effectiveness of our tactics, solid research, legal defensibility and unique teaching methodology.

Safety and survival in today’s world requires a definite course of action. We provide effective options by teaching you to take an active role in your own self-defense and psychological well being.
We operate on the premise (supported by research) that a spontaneous violent attack will stimulate a natural desire to resist on the part of the victim. We educate you about “The Flight or Fight Syndrome,” showing that enhancing your option of physical defense is not only prudent, but a necessity for effective natural resistance.

The SAFE program is a prerequisite in order to sign up for the RAD course. For more information, contact Campus Safety & Security or Campus Athletics.
