Biography: DeNita Turner, Image Builders Inc.

DeNita Turner Tiefel ChairDeNita Turner is president of Image Builders, Inc., a Maryland-based consulting firm specializing in group and one-on-one training to help clients enhance their confidence, professional polish and interpersonal effectiveness.

Image Builder's clients include General Electric, Lucent Technologies, Marriott International, Purdue University, National Basketball Association, and the Women's National Basketball Association. Over the years, Ms. Turner has appeared with clients on ESPN’s “NBA Today” and NBC’s “Inside Stuff.”

Turner started Image Builders after a 20-year career in sales and marketing at various Fortune 500 companies, including Marriott International, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company.

To create Image Builders, Turner combined her sales and marketing experience with her passion for teaching. Today, the Maryland company holds workshops for corporate teams, academic groups and professional athletic associations.

In her corporate career, Turner discovered again and again that many individuals lack solid personal, social and business skills that were traditionally instilled by family. Image Builders works with clients to improve life skills like civility, communication, leadership and good manners.

At Marriott, Turner worked in sales and marketing for 12 years. In her position as director of Communication and Training for International Sales and Marketing, she was responsible for developing and implementing brand training for lodging in Tokyo, Sydney, London, Frankfurt and Latin America.

Prior to that, she served as a national account manager for Courtyard/Fairfield Inn by Marriott. She took on similar roles at McGraw-Hill and Coca-Cola.

A native of Richmond, Va., Turner is an active member of the Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association and the National Association of Female Executives.
